Over the years, SW-Motech has worked to develop aftermarket products to outfit the legendary KLR650 in all its iterations. Continuing this trend, the German accessories manufacturer has now announced a wide range of parts for the new KLR — which for 2022 received updates such as EFI, ABS, LED lighting, a fixed frame and more. The new line of products offers owners of the Gen-3 machine upgrades in protection, ergonomics, luggage capacity and more.

For the new KLR, SW-Motech has developed a frame-mounted crash bar constructed of robust steel with a 27mm pipe diameter. The crash bars are weather- and corrosion-resistant and are formed, welded and powder-coated in their Brno, Czech Republic factory.

According to SW-Motech the crash bars offer optimal cornering clearance plus the bike-specific mounting systems enable reliable, easy installation onto original attachment points. (MSRP $338.95)

For underbelly protection from rocks and contact with the ground, SW-Motech offers an aluminum alloy skidplate that remains unchanged from the Gen 2 model. The 4 mm-thick engine guard mounts on the original attachments for easy installation and doesn’t require modifications to the bike. Silver and black are offered as color options. (MSRP $243.95)

The SW-Motech KOBRA Handguard system includes sturdy aluminum bars with interchangeable impact-resistant shells to protect levers and hands from weather, brush and roost. Cold weather extensions to the handguards as well as LED blinker inserts can also be added to the KOBRAs. (MSRP $205.95)

The latest (and lightest) iteration of their popular carriers called the PRO line is even more robust and utilizes a convenient patented QUICK-LOCK system that allows the rider to completely remove or attach the entire rack structure in seconds. Made of 2.5 mm-thick steel, the PRO side carrier offers side cases from SW-Motech, Givi/Kappa, Hepco & Becker, Krauser and Shad as well as the Sysbags (SysBag 15, 30, WP L) a secure fit – the matching adapter kits are sold separately. (MSRP $334.95)

Easily accessible, the TRAX Toolbox is made of 1.5 mm-thick aluminum and is designed to be attached to the inside or outside of the PRO side carrier. The position of the box can be custom-adjusted using the three attachment points and offers 3.3 liters of capacity for tools, a first aid kit or smaller items. (MSRP $179.95)

The box is designed to be installed on the engine guard with star screws for a more secure mount during offroad use. The mounting location is individually selectable, according to SW-Motech. (MSRP $127.95)

KLR riders can now choose between two different footpeg options, the ION footrest or the EVO model. The top-of-the-line EVO peg has removable rubber inserts and is adjustable vertically, front to back and even allows for the rotation of the angle to allow for 36 different positions to dial in your sitting or standing ergonomics. The ION stainless-steel kit allows the footrest to be mounted at its original height or lowered by 15 mm. (EVO $184.95  IVO $145.95)

The convenient and sturdy steel-tube center stand is easy to jack-up and provides high cornering and ground clearance as well as greater stability during repairs or while parking with luggage. The bike-specific design features a frustration-free installation thanks to the easy rotating spring tensioner. (MSRP $282.95)

This rear plate is also new to the KLR and allows various luggage options, from the lightweight and affordable URBAN ABS top case to mounting a full-on TRAX ADV locking weatherproof aluminum case. A fully outfitted TRAX ADV case system (available in black or silver) consisting of two side cases and the top case provides 120 liters of luggage volume. (MSRP $185.95)

The TRAX ADV aluminum cases are 1.5 mm-thick and feature a welded aluminum wall material. Each features a beveled side edge which provides high ground clearance when cornering. A completely removable lid with carrying handles made of anodized aluminum and quick-release fasteners make loading and unloading of motorcycle luggage easier. The system includes two side cases, two detachable PRO side carriers, adapter kit, lock set, lid limiter and anti-theft protection. ( MSRP $1,499.95)

The new waterproof PRO CROSS WP tank bag features a MOLLE top panel for mounting a navigation device or accessory pouch, fully welded TPU construction, waterproof zippers and strap attachment system. The 5.5- liter bag also rides up higher on the tank to allow more room for standing. (MSRP $199.95)

The 13/16 mm diameter GPS mount attaches to the crossbar and can be pivoted up and down to the rider’s desired view. The mount features a shock-absorbent GPS device holder and the retaining plate includes a universal drill-hole pattern that provides a secure hold for popular GPS models, Navi Case Pro device cases or hard cases from SW-Motech. (MSRP $82.95)
